is happy to promote the excellent road and mountain bike riding that is available here on Gran Canaria.

More routes are imminent and we will put them here when available.

This is the best first ride of the week, close enough to test out the legs and equipment, and far enough and
quiet enough for you to start your riding break on a high. You can reverse the route to clockwise and do a uuey
at Ayaguares and get an excellant work out on 2 cat 1 climbs within 90mins.

This is the one to aim for,but beware!Keep the energy conserved for the final 12 kms. It kicks and kicks again, and the air get thin
as you progess up through the clouds. There are many kiosks and shops at many points along the way, so take advantage of the fruits and drinks
for sale. There is usually a mobile cafe at the top selling hot drinks for you to enjoy as you take in Teide on neighbouring Tenerfie. Look
forward to a long fast descent back to the coast. Watch out for an unruly surface on the way down from the immediate peak.

This is the ultimate bequiling ride, rolling along the coast with the morning sunshine, turn inland at Gotham City
(our name for the cement factory!) then through gentle open barrancos and fruit farms, oh what a joy! The mountain quite viciously
appears out of nowwhere, all 900m of it and like a giant resting his chin on the road, you begin to climb the face
this with no break till Soria and a welcome icecream in the store there.
But feel compensated by quiet roads with an excellant surface and the rip roaring descent back to Maspalomas!

Taking the same route up to Fataga and down again to Santa Lucia, the descent is spoiled at the fork by taking you
left and up a long long climb into the desolate uplands, endless corners and climbs will test your love of cycling before
depositing you out at Vecendario for the coastal ride home. Pack lots of energy bars on this one.

The attached download is only in Spanish, which is probably just as well as you this is one persistantly steep climb
up to 800m.While not high, the altitude is delivered to you in very sharp angry portions, all the while getting steeper up to the
point where the road makers went home in shame and the goats take over, which is where you do a uuey and head for home.
You'll see some ancient satelite dishes here, that were used to bounce the moon landing signal back to America.
Ancient satelite dishes? Did I really say that?!

The attached information assumes that you start this ride in San Bartholome, so my data here includes the statistics
up to that point. This is definitely a big day out, away to the other side of beyond and back. You'll cross a few cols and
climb up through the kilometres before you can honestly head for home.
It's not to be missed though, a big boy's ride if ever there was one.

Another day riding south on the coast road to Mogan, take care in the tunnels on this one before Mogan. The road is an A road, but the traffic
is used to cyclists and will take care with you.Turn inland at Puerto de Mogan and start the climb to the beautiful village of Mogan with it's windmills and
narrow streets.
Leaving Mogan and before you turn left to St Nicholas, turn sharp right for the start of climb, you may wish to ring your granny here for assistance.
This is a long serpentine climb that takes you forever upwards. Save your energy and ensure you have enough water and food, there are no shops up here.
At the T-junction, head right again for the final kicker before you descend down a mountain lane, watch out for small rocks on the road.
Follow the road back to Gotham City and left again along the coast to Maspalomas.

Follow on from a previous route to Soria, we continue up to Barranquilo de Andreas, this is a very steep climb, so
ensure you have the correct gearing for your ability, when in doubt, get a triple, this is one of those places where
heroism has so value.
Once this beast is tamed, it's tail comes back to swipe you with a long 30k drag on a rough surface that just beats
you up. Thankfully at the end of this road, turn right and you'll see within 50m shady restaurants that sell ice cream, coffee &
cakes and Coca Cola and food!
From here with your tanks full again, you can drive the big ring all the way home, a small kick at San Bartholome is minor wrinkle
compared to what has gone before.
