The Etape du Tour is year on year the most sought after event for the amateur cyclist to enter!
The race limit of 10000 was previously being sold out very quickly, leaving thousands more without an entry.
For the second year, there are 2 Etape du Tours, 1 week apart, offering double the entries to satisfy the
ultimate dream of riding a stage of the historic Tour de France. The two routes are dramatically different, and will appeal the
climbers and rouleurs alike.
The Event
And for the second year, Cycle Gran Canaria, and this camp we are honoured to be working with Magnus Backstedt, Paris Roubaix winner and rider and Team Captain of UK Youth Pro Cycling team,
to offer you the salient advice and guidance needed to complete the Etape and help you to ensure that you are prepared mentally and physically to start the countdown to July with the reality of the task in hand.
The week is geared towards Act 1 which is aimed at fans of the high Alps with the 139.5km passage from Albertville to La Toussuire.
It will feature famous Tour passes such as the Col de la Madeleine, Col du Glandon and Col de la Croix-de-Fer, all of them coming at you one after the other like angry Yodas!
However a week in the sun getting some kilometers in for Act 2 with fellow “rouleurs” will be just as sensible!

Gran Canaria has many benefits to answer this challenge, good riding weather, quality roads, superb back up service,
and most important diverse topography that allows you to train in winter for any Alpine stage.
By getting your form used to climbing, you gain the knowledge and fitness to climb steadily for long peroids of time. You learn to use
liquids and energy drinks to their optimum effect, and more importantly not to overuse gels and electrolyte drinks as helpful as they are
taken at the proper intervals.
You may adapt or discard practices, that you know will assist or hamper you...think about clothing, equipment or eating and drinking
habits during the week. France will be hot and cold, sometimes in extremes.
In Gran Canaria in January, there are hot temperatures at the coast, routinely 22º/24º which gradually cool as you ascend.
Carrying the right gear gives you that confidence, that you are prepared in this
vital area.
By training on a replica of the route, you'll realise what your chances are, and how to improve them. It may be back to the drawing board,
but since the DNF rate has been as high as 30% in recent Etapes, why be one of the 30000 who do not finish.
It may be said that January is too early to do such a ride, but this is training & preparation and whether you complete the final
day's ride, which will be pretty much, the exact route in distance and metres climbed, you'll either be aiming for a good time or
you'll have 6 months to get it right, this is what we'll give you!
